另外 Mozilla 瀏覽器在七月七日發現的 Windows 上安全漏洞，已在七月八日發佈消息及修正檔，或者在 Mozilla 正體中文網站上也找的到更新檔。修補過後的正式英文版 Mozilla 1.7.1 及 Mozilla Firefox 0.9.2 已經釋出，中文版也將在稍後推出。

本漏洞是 Mozilla 上有一個 shell: 協定，它在 Windows 上可以存取本地端的檔案，有點類似在 IE 上讀取檔案的 file: 協定，容易有安全性的問題。當讀取一個不存在的檔案時，會造成 Mozilla 不停產生新視窗使得最後 Windows 當機。這個問題主要的來源是因為 IE 的關係，因此除了沒有 IE 的 Windows 95 之外，其他 Windows 平台皆會有此 bug。所以不只是 Mozilla，在其他的 MSIE 及其核心，和其他的瀏覽器（據稱 Opera 除外）都會有本情況。
